How to Get Here

The Wawel Royal Castle is located on Wawel Hill in Cracow’s Old Town, about a 10-minute walk away from the Main Market Square and a 20-minute walk from the train and bus station.

Public Transportation

Nearest:
  • Tram stops – Wawel (ul. Św. Gertrudy, at the foot of Wawel Hill); Stradom (intersection of ul. Stradom and ul. Dietla; 5 min. walk
  • Bus stops – Jubilat (Aleja Krasińskiego – 10 min. walk); Stradom (ul. Dietla; 5 min. walk)

Bicycle

Bicycles are not permitted on Wawel Hill. Bicycle racks are provided at either entrance gate. Please lock your bicycle securely; Wawel Royal Castle is not responsible for damaged or stolen property.

Balice Airport

The airport is located 11 km to the east of Cracow’s city center, which can be reached by:
  • Train – the Kraków Lotnisko-Wieliczka Rynek Kopalnia line, stop: Kraków Główny
  • Agglomeration Bus Lines: 208 and 252 (daytime) and 902 (nighttime). The closest bus stops for the 252 line are Centrum Kongresowe ICE and Jubilat. Bus lines 208 and 902 depart from Dworzec Główny Wschód.

PARKING LOTS FOR CARS

The nearest underground parking garages (car parks):

  • Plac na Groblach, 5-minute walk to Wawel
  • By the National Museum, 20-minute walk or take the bus from the Muzeum Narodowe stop to the Jubilat stop + 10-minute walk
Park and Ride (P&R)
Park and ride facilities are located near the following public transportation hubs: Czerwone Maki, Kurdwanów, Bieżanów

Parking spaces for people with disabilities close to the Wawel Castle:
  • Six designated parking space at ul. Bernardyńska
  • Three designated parking space at ul. Smocza
  • Three designated parking space at ul. Koletek
  • Two designated parking space in the Pod Wawelem car park at ul. Świętego Idziego
  • One designated parking space at ul. Straszewskiego
  • One designated parking space at ul. Powiśle
Mobility-impaired visitors are requested to contact the museum in advance of their planned visit. Certain arrangements can be made to accommodate visitor needs, but we must be advised ahead of time. Please call +48.12.422.51.55 ext. 219 to arrange for vehicle (taxi etc.) access.

Street Parking

Nearest to Wawel: ul. Smocza, ul. Bernardyńska
Metered parking (10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) – multi-space meters

BUS/COACH PARKING
ul. Powiśle 11, 5-minute walk to Wawel.
According to the bus park owner, if this lot is full additional parking is available near the Wisła Kraków Stadium (Al. 3 Maja), which is only 1.5 km away and has 50 parking spaces for buses (coaches)
