Regulations for Use of the Luggage Storage at Wawel Royal Castle.

  1. The regulations apply to the luggage storage facility operated by the Wawel Royal Castle State Art Collections, Wawel 5, 31-001 Krakow, NIP:  675-000-44-59. Address for correspondence: Wawel Royal Castle State Art Collections, Wawel 5, 31-001 Krakow; e-mail:  kancelaria@wawelzamek.pl.
  2. Luggage storage is available during the visiting hours of the Wawel Royal Castle. It is open from 15 minutes before the opening of exhibitions until the closing time. The opening hours of the luggage room are visible at the location of the luggage room.
  3. According to the Ticket Sales and Exhibition Visit Regulations of the Wawel Royal Castle, § VII, point 2, before entering the exhibitions, it is mandatory to leave backpacks, bags, purses, and any other items exceeding any of the specified dimensions in the luggage storage: base 35 cm, height 25 cm x width 15 cm, baby carriers with a frame, umbrellas, walking sticks, and strollers.
  4. The Castle is not liable for sensitive or valuable items left in luggage according to the Ticket Sales and Exhibition Visit Regulations of the Wawel Royal Castle, § VII, point 3.
  5. When handing over luggage to the luggage room, the customer declares that its value does not exceed PLN 1,000. In addition, if the value of the baggage exceeds PLN 100, the person placing the baggage in storage is required to fill in a blank stating the value of the baggage. If he/she fails to do so, the Castle's liability is limited to £100.
  6. When leaving documents or valuables in clothing and other items placed in safekeeping, the client does so at his or her own risk and responsibility.
  7. Baggage storage is not accepted in the case of:
    a)      items which are difficult to store in the cloakroom due to their size or characteristic feature (e.g. glass, luggage trolley);
    b)      objects which may cause damage to third parties or their property, in particular by being damaged or soiled, or which may damage or contaminate the premises of the luggage depot;
    c)       objects with an unpleasant odour;
    d)      arms and ammunition, inflammable, flammable, explosive and other dangerous materials;
    e)      items whose storage is prohibited by law.
  8. Luggage room staff may refuse to accept luggage for storage:
    a)      if he/she has suspicions about the prohibited content referred to in point 6 and the person presenting the baggage does not prove their absence;
    b)      whose condition is defective (e.g. the suitcase is partly open, does not close properly, contains other visible damage).
  9. There is no charge for storing luggage in the luggage room.
  10. As proof that the luggage has been accepted into the luggage room, the customer receives a token with a number.
  11. It is permitted to accept luggage into the luggage room from several people for joint storage, per numbered token.
  12. The numbered token is the basis for the release of luggage from the luggage room.
  13. If you lose your numbered token, please notify the baggage room staff.
  14. Items will only be released from the luggage room if the following conditions are met:
    1) the person who has lost the numbered token submits a written declaration specifying the luggage deposited in the luggage room and demonstrates entitlement to them, and is in possession of a valid identity document. A protocol will be drawn up for this circumstance, a specimen of which is attached as Appendix No. 1 to the Rules and Regulations,
    2) the person who has lost a numbered token will pay a fee for losing the token in the amount of PLN 50,
    3) the fee will be accepted only in cash on the basis of a debit note issued by an authorised person.
  15. The customer is obliged to collect his/her luggage from the luggage room on the day he/she places it in storage, before the luggage room closes.
  16. If, on the day of visit, the luggage has not been collected by the closing time of the luggage room, the owner is requested to contact the Castle Guard. The guard opens the storage room and issues the luggage with a numbered token, along with a payment order. A person who has left luggage and has not collected it before the closing time of baggage storage is obliged to pay a handling fee of PLN 50.
  17. Luggage from the luggage storage facility that is not retrieved after 7 days of storage, counting from the day following the day on which the item was given to the luggage storage facility, shall be considered abandoned property.
  18. In the event of a loss of luggage handed over to the luggage room, this must be reported immediately to the staff of the luggage room by filling in a claim form, which is attached as Appendix No. 2 to the Rules and Regulations. The form should:
    1) indicate contact details;
    2) describe the lost belongings/baggage (by indicating, inter alia, type, colour, shape, company, special features/elements/characteristics, etc.);
    3) indicate the declared value of the lost belongings/baggage;
    4) in the event of the loss of baggage left in the luggage room, the contents of the lost baggage must be indicated. Complaints will be dealt with within 7 days of notification of lost baggage being handed over to the baggage room.
  19. In matters not regulated in these Rules, the provisions of Polish law, including in particular the Civil Code, shall apply.

  21.  By handing over your luggage to the luggage room, you are deemed to have read and accepted the Regulations and to be bound by them.

  23. Any disputes between the Customer using the cloakroom and the luggage room, which cannot be resolved amicably, shall be settled by the competent common court.
