Complimentary Admission

The following are eligible for complimentary admission to the exhibitions of Wawel Royal Castle:


  1. Natural persons decorated with the Order of the White Eagle, the Military Order Virtuti Militari, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the medal of Merit to Culture Gloria Artis;
  2. Staff members of museums registered in the National Register of Museums;
  3. Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS);
  4. Holders of the Polish Card, as defined in the law of September 7, 2007 on the Polish Card;
  5. Members of the Stowarzyszenie Historyków Sztuki [Association of Art Historians];
  6. Members of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Historii i Zabytków Krakowa [Society of the Lovers of the History and Monuments of Krakow];
  7. University lecturers and their students participating in educational activities in accordance with existing agreements;
  8. Children up to age 7;
  9. School group supervisors (1 adult per 10 students);
  10. Disabled persons with their parents or legal guardians who hold the Krakowska Karta Rodziny z Niepełnosprawnym Dzieckiem [Krakow Card for Families with Disabled Children];
  11. Veterans and injured veterans;
  12. Journalists;
  13. Tour guides certified by the director of Wawel Royal Castle to lead tour groups through the exhibitions and on the outdoor routes;
  14. Other individuals at the discretion of the director of Wawel Royal Castle.

Documents that confirm eligibility for complimentary admission:


  1. document confirming conferral of the Order of the White Eagle, the Military Order Virtuti Militari, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the medal of Merit to Culture Gloria Artis;
  2. Museum Staff ID from a museum registered in with the National Register of Museums;
  3. Membership Card ICOM, Membership Card ICOMOS;
  4. Polish Card;
  5. Membership Card of the Stowarzyszenie Historyków Sztuki [Association of Art Historians];
  6. Membership Card of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Historii i Zabytków Krakowa [Society of the Lovers of the History and Monuments of Krakow];
  7. Proof of age;
  8. Krakowska Karta Rodziny z Niepełnosprawnym Dzieckiem [Krakow Card for Families with Disabled Children];
  9. Veteran’s and Injured Veteran’s ID;
  10. Journalist ID;
  11. Certification to lead tours of the exhibitions and outdoor routes issued by the director of Wawel Royal Castle.

Reduced Admission

The following are eligible for reduced admission to the exhibitions at the Wawel Royal Castle:


  1. primary and secondary school students enrolled in the educational system, students of schools of social work, university students, and doctoral students;
  2. primary and secondary school students, university students, and doctoral students who are citizens of European Union member countries, the Swiss Confederation, and members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area;
  3. students of schools run by social organizations outside Poland and registered in the database maintained by a competent unit subordinate to the minister in charge of education, during the period in which they are engaged in the study of the Polish language, history, geography, Polish culture or other subjects taught in Polish, through the age of 18;
  4. students in schools operating within the educational systems of other countries, during the period in which they are engaged in the study of the Polish language, history, geography, Polish culture or other subjects taught in Polish, through the age of 18;
  5. students in Polish sections in schools operating within the educational systems of other countries, through the age of 18;
  6. students enrolled in European schools operating under the Convention Defining the Stature of the European Schools signed in Luxembourg on June 21, 1994, studying the Polish language, history, geography, Polish culture, or other subjects taught in Polish, through the age of 18;
  7. persons over the age of 65, retirees, disability pensioners, social aid pensioners, as well as disabled persons and their caregivers, who are citizens of member states of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, and member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) ¬– parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area;
  8. teachers:
    a. schools and establishments within the educational system, juvenile detention centers, and juvenile shelters;
    b. schools operating in member states of the the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, and member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) -– parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area;
    c. schools run by social organizations outside Poland and registered in the database maintained by a competent unit subordinate to the minister in charge of education;
    d. teachers of the Polish language, history, geography, Polish culture, or other subjects taught in Polish at:
    - schools functioning within the educational systems of other states;
    - Polish sections functioning within the educational systems of other states;
    - European schools operating under the Convention Defining the Stature of the European Schools signed in Luxembourg on June 21, 1994;
  9. Natural persons decorated with the medal “For Contributions to the Preservation of Historic Monuments” (Za opiekę nad zabytkami), the honorary medal for “Distinguished Service to Culture” (Zasłużony działacz kultury), honorary medal for “Distinguished Service to Polish Culture” (Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej), or holder of the honorary title “Distinguished Service to National Culture” (Zasłużony dla Kultury Narodowej);
  10. Members of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA);
  11. Ex-service personnel;
  12. Disabled persons and their caregivers;
  13. Tour guides leading group visits to the exhibitions of the Wawel Royal Castle;
  14. Holders of the Karta Dużej Rodziny [Large Family Card], Krakowska Karta Rodzinna 3+ [Krakow Family 3+ Card], Krakowska Karta Rodziny z Niepełnosprawnym Dzieckiem [Krakow Card for Families with Disabled Children], Karta Krakowska [Krakow Card].

Children 0–7 years of age – free admission
Children 8–18 are eligible for discounted tickets
Family discount applies for the purchase of tickets for individual exhibitions or combinations of exhibitions
Family discount applies to a family of 1–2 adults with max. 5 children per adult; min. 1 adult + 1 child:
1+1, 2+1 – discount applies to 1 adult ticket
2+2, 2+3 – discount applies to 2 adult tickets
2+4 – discount applies to 2 adult tickets (in addition – 4th child 8–18 yrs. of age receives free admission)
